Our Services & Capabilities
The complete machining capabilities at Applied Fusion were established to provide for a wide variety of manufactured parts and assemblies. With a large manual shop and an even larger CNC shop, our capabilities are quite unique in that we are able to specialize in R&D / Prototype work that most shops of similar size are incapable of, but the flexibility to advance these into production requirements.
We thrive on challenges, working with a vast array of manufacturing engineers in assisting to design parts that are not only manufacturable, but completed in the most cost efficient manner. Our Senior Manufacturing Representatives are hands-on managers tasked with coordinating your job, starting with the procurement of material all the way to shipping out the final product. We work in a variety of fields, and in combination with AFI’s welding departments, we specialize in building vacuum chambers and welded assemblies of most any material required.
The manual shop at Applied Fusion is staffed by a diverse crew of journeyman machinists, experienced in all facets of manufacturing, backed up with 40 years worth of tooling and equipment. The CNC shop is equipped with both small and large machining centers. Our CNC Department is also heavily tooled, using inventoried fixtures in a well maintained environment. Our Programmers utilize state of the art software in order to reduce programming cost.
Our unique approach to manufacturing allows us to encourage our customers R&D efforts, along with their production requests.
Electron Beam Welding & Brazing
AFI's electron beam welding machines are monitored with precise power control, allowing single-pass welding of metals. Costly weld preps are not required. Heat sinks and other obstructions can be in very close proximity to the weld.

Dissimilar Metal Joining
AFI has invented the Trision Welding Process, a method of welding aluminum to steel and other combinations of dissimilar metals through a patented EBW process. Aluminum-to-stainless tubular transitions are available from stock for cryogenic, vacuum, and chemical applications.
CNC & Conventional Milling & Turning
The CNC shop on the other hand is equipped with both small and large machining centers. Our milling capabilities include machines capable of handling up to 65” X 120” X 40” high and spindle speeds of up to 10,000 RPM with high pressure coolant thru.
Conventional Welding
Applied Fusion maintains the capability to offer full conventional welding and fabrication services.
Vacuum & Pressure Leak Testing
The vast majority of products that pass through our facility are high vacuum components and/or pressure vessels.
